Excuse me while I whine just a little bit...
To be completely honest, one of the reasons I haven't been spending as much time printing as I would like is because I hate cutting paper! And with no paper, no printing. My problem is that I want to use cotton paper but most of it comes in parent sheets that are at least 56cm x 76cm, and I only have a small tabletop guillotine I bought off ebay. Someday I would like to get a gorgeous beauty like this
but don't really have the space (or money) right now, so I'm left doing the cutting by hand.
First I have to mark the center of each sheet, then use an xacto knife to cut each sheet in half long ways. This is the worst part of the process.
Finally I move to the guillotine.
This takes awhile because I can only cut a few sheets at a time, but in the end I get good results so I don't mind this part as much. Overall, the whole process just takes SO much time so I would really love to find some other options. I've been buying my paper by the sheet from a printmaking shop nearby, but I found that GFSmith sells Crane's Lettra (a specially made letterpress paper) cut down to A4 size. I would have to buy in much bigger quantities than I have been, but I'm seriously contemplating that even though it will be a few pence more per card... definitely worth it, at least until I can get the right machinery to do it myself.
If you have any other ideas to make this a less tiresome process, please let me know!
